WHAT IS CERAKOTE?
Cerakote is a thin‑film ceramic coating specifically designed for firearms and other high‑wear equipment. It is applied as a liquid coating and then cured to create an extremely strong and durable, protective finish that bonds to the surface of the firearm.
Unlike traditional finishes, Cerakote is engineered to protect firearms from corrosion, wear, chemicals, heat, and harsh environmental conditions

Key Benefits of Cerakote Superior corrosion protection
Cerakote provides industry‑leading resistance to rust and corrosion, even in humid, wet, or salty environments. This makes it ideal for carry guns, duty firearms, hunting rifles, and firearms exposed to the elements.
Exceptional durability
The ceramic formulation creates a hard, abrasion‑resistant surface that stands up to holster wear, frequent handling, and repeated firing better than many traditional finishes.
Thin coating that preserves tolerances
Cerakote is applied in extremely thin layers, which means it does not interfere with tight tolerances or moving parts when applied correctly—something thicker coatings can struggle with.
Heat and chemical resistance
Cerakote withstands high operating temperatures and resists damage from solvents, cleaners, oils, and gun lubricants.
Customization and appearance
Cerakote offers a wide range of colors and finishes, allowing customers to restore worn firearms, modernize their look, or create custom builds while maintaining full functionality.

How Cerakote Compares to Other Common Firearm Finishes
Bluing

Bluing offers a classic appearance but provides minimal corrosion protection and requires frequent oiling and maintenance. Cerakote dramatically outperforms bluing in rust prevention and durability.
Parkerizing
Parkerizing improves corrosion resistance over bluing but still relies heavily on oil retention. Cerakote offers significantly greater longevity, color options, and wear resistance.
Anodizing (aluminum parts)
Anodizing is durable but limited to aluminum components and offers little flexibility in color matching or refinishing worn steel parts. Cerakote works on steel, aluminum, polymer, and more.
Nitride / Melonite
Nitriding provides excellent hardness and corrosion resistance but is limited to certain steel parts and offers no cosmetic customization. Cerakote adds both protection and customization, and can also be applied over nitrided surfaces for added benefits.
Powder Coating
Powder coating is thicker and can interfere with tolerances on firearm parts. Cerakote’s thin application makes it far more suitable for firearms and precision components.

Why Many Firearm Manufactures and Owners Choose Cerakote Extends the life of the firearm
Protects against rust and daily wear
Maintains proper function and tolerances
Allows for restoration or customization
Reduces maintenance compared to traditional finishes
Cerakote is widely used by military, law enforcement, manufacturers, and professional gunsmiths, making it one of the most trusted firearm coatings available today.
